  • Tree felling is the process of cutting down or removing trees. This could be required for a variety of reasons, including tree death or disease, or because a tree poses a danger to the environment around it.

Felling a tree requires the correct skills and equipment, and therefore should be left to a trained arborist. Our tree surgeons will carry out an assessment of the tree and surrounding areas to outline the best approach.

  • Sectional Felling is the process of removing sectional parts of a tree – usually the branches. This is required when it is difficult to fell the entire tree, due to proximity to buildings or electrical lines.

This process requires a skilled climber to ascend the tree and lower the branches safely to the ground using rigging techniques to avoid damage to property and the surrounding area.

  • Pollarding is a pruning system in which the upper branches of a tree are removed to encourage a new, healthy growth of foliage and branches. Once finished, the tree begins regenerating multiple shoots that continue growing for years to come.

It is important not to allow growth to become too unmanageable or heavy for the trunk, so it is advisable that this process be carried out on a consistent basis.

  • This process alleviates the overbearing or dangerous qualities of a dominant tree. This can be achieved by reduction of the height or spread of the tree, lifting by detaching the lower limbs, or thinning by removing unwanted weight from branch tips.

Crown reduction, lifting or thinning is very specific to each case, with an overall aim to reduce danger and/or sunlight obstruction.

  • Trees undergo the natural process of shedding deceased twigs and branches. However, often there are cases where deadwood does not shed naturally and requires removal to avoid risk to life as well as to allow the remainder of the tree to flourish successfully.
